Great response to podcast talk at IAJE

Roget Pontbriand and I had a great time in NY at the IAJE conference, seeing and hearing the likes of Billy Taylor, Jon Faddis, Nancy Wilson, Phil Woods, Michele LeGrande, and so on. We gave the first technology presentation of the conference, and it went quite smoothly. Although the attendance wasn’t fantastic, the response we got from those in attendance was very good, with plenty of good questions.
To see the sample podcasts we made (one video and one “enhanced”), see the Instructional Podcast Resource Center page, or Roget’s page.

Peter Castine at PBAU

Peter Castine gave an excellent guest lecture at PBA last Monday evening. He showed and spoke on two of his pieces: Senz’arco for cello and computer and the installation RealiTV.
RealiTV is a natural extension of the work of John Cage, taking in both the video and audio feeds of two sattelite receivers, and randomly selecting channels, audio, and video processing effects, with some intelligence built into the process. Dr. Castine, an expert in random processes, explained a little of his use of I Ching processes in RealiTV.
Dr. Peter Castine is the author of the Litter and iCE packages for the Max/MSP environment.

Happy 2007!

Best wishes for a happy, healthy, prosperous, and creative year!
