Peter Castine gave an excellent guest lecture at PBA last Monday evening. He showed and spoke on two of his pieces: Senz’arco for cello and computer and the installation RealiTV.
RealiTV is a natural extension of the work of John Cage, taking in both the video and audio feeds of two sattelite receivers, and randomly selecting channels, audio, and video processing effects, with some intelligence built into the process. Dr. Castine, an expert in random processes, explained a little of his use of I Ching processes in RealiTV.
